About

Why this
club exists

The Gathering of Local Dads is a non-profit community for dads and dads-to-be in El Dorado Hills. One evening a month to talk honestly, trade ideas, and back each other up.

Why only dads?

Because there wasn't one for us

Moms have plenty of groups to lean on. Dads mostly don't. Between work, family, and everything else, most of us have very few places to talk about how it's actually going. GOLD is that place: somewhere to grow, share, find ideas, and support each other.

We all juggle hats based on what we provide and support others. Who is supporting you?

Our meetings

Learn from each other

Every first Thursday we get together for a guest speaker, an open Q&A, or just an honest conversation. Some nights are practical, some are personal. A few of the topics on the list:

Our goals

What we set out to do

  1. 01

    Build community

Get to know the dads around you, so there is someone to call when you need a hand or a second opinion.

  2. 02

    Gain perspective

Hear how other dads handle it, and work out the kind of father, husband, and man you want to be.

  3. 03

    Learn together

Guest speakers on the things nobody gives you a manual for: discipline, mental health, teens, and big life changes.

  4. 04

    Provide support

A room where you can say what is actually going on, without anyone rushing to fix it.

A safe space

What's said here stays here.

We talk about real things. What a dad shares in the room is his to share, and it stays in the room.

From the founder

Hi, I'm Mikael

Mikael Bonnevie, founder of G.O.L.D. Syndicate

My wife and I moved to the foothills seven years ago, and we now share the place with two kids, three dogs, a few goats, and too many projects. I'm still figuring out the kind of dad I want to be.

I'd been missing a brotherhood for a long time, so I started the group I wish had existed when my first kid showed up.

We're starting small, through EDH BJJ, local school parent clubs, and local communities. The goal is real connection, not a big crowd.

Any dad.
Any stage.

New dad, dad-to-be, or kids out of the house. Come as you are.
